Prof Sudhesh Kumar is a clinical endocrinologist who has contributed much to the discipline over his career both as a clinician and as an academic. He has published over 240 papers and 6 books over his career. He has trained and mentored a large number of clinicians and academics who have themselves taken on leadership roles in NHS or Universities. He joined Warwick Medical School as Professor of Medicine in 2003 and he was Dean of the Warwick Medical School at University of Warwick from 2015 until August 2023.  He was subsequently appointed Vice President (Health) and a member of the senior management team from August 2023, for University of Warwick.

Besides his University role he was also a Non-Executive Director on the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust Board where he was Senior Independent Director and also NHS Digital, where he was Vice Chair of the Board.  He received the Coventry City Award of Merit in 2011 and was awarded an OBE for services to Medicine in 2019.
