NPL achieves new Diversity and Inclusion Awards

NPL has gained two new awards related to our work in Diversity and Inclusion, moving up to become a Disability Confident Employer (level 2) and a Stonewall LGBTQ+ Inclusive employer (Bronze award).

NPL holds several Diversity and Inclusion accreditations, which form part of our 5-year strategy supporting us to evaluate our progress and to identify new areas of future work.

NPL has been accredited up to Level 2 of the Government’s Disability Confident Scheme, recognising a commitment to creating environments for people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions to fulfil their potential. To progress to this level, NPL has co-developed new policies and procedures with associated staff-led networks, enhanced  understanding of accessibility and created resources to support all staff to become more disability confident. This award is in place for the next three years, as NPL continues to identify further opportunities to support colleagues with disabilities and/or long-term conditions.

NPL has also been recognised for an approach to creating a workplace where LGBTQ+ employees can bring their genuine full selves to work should they choose to. This recognition means, for the first time, NPL has gained a bronze award. Crucial to reaching this point has been the support that is available in associated staff-led groups who have created not only a welcoming and supportive LGBTQ+ community at NPL but have collectively supported the business in identifying and implementing organisational changes. This exciting milestone builds on the contributions of many members over the years.
