Trade Minister Greg Hands MP was welcomed to CSA Catapult’s Innovation Centre.  

It was the Minister’s first visit to the Catapult, who play a leading role in developing and commercialising new applications for industry in the UK and internationally.    

In 2020, the Minister led a virtual visit to Taiwan to further develop the UK-Taiwan trade relationship, at which the CSA Catapult signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan to develop the advanced electronic products of the future and forging long-lasting business relationships. 

Trade Minister Greg Hands MP said: “I was delighted to visit the CSA Catapult Innovation Centre ahead of the launch of our public call for input for our trade agreement with South Korea.  

“CSA Catapult is in the world’s first compound semiconductor cluster, based here in South Wales and is fuelling domestic innovation and growth, initiating over £100m in projects. 

“South Korea is a world leader in semiconductor manufacturing and development, so closer trade ties will help strengthen our capabilities in this area and create more opportunities for innovative organisations like CSA Catapult.” 

CSA Catapult CEO Martin McHugh said: “We were delighted to welcome the Minister to our Catapult and to show him how we support UK businesses to grow markets such as power electronics and telecoms networks. We are keen to work with partners internationally, we have been building relationships with India and Taiwan to help grow UK industry.”  Read more
