Your chance to influence aquaculture innovation

Between April and July 2023, CIEL will be holding a series of workshops across the UK. Businesses, government departments and academic institutions are all invited to participate and influence aquaculture innovation.

CIEL recognises the need to explore how it can leverage as much impact across the UK’s aquaculture sector as possible. The challenges and needs of the UK aquaculture sub-sectors are broadly similar, but each of the Four Nations also face unique challenges and it is likely that their respective innovation priorities will also differ.

The ‘4 Nations CIEL Aquaculture Innovation Roadshow’ is an important opportunity for anyone involved in aquaculture to inform, influence priorities and help shape the ambition to accelerate science & innovation in aquatic food production in a holistic, sustainable way that meets the needs of the sector within each Nation of the UK.

Working with CIEL’s extensive academic and industry network, dedicated resource within CIEL will drive the development of projects that will meet the innovation priorities of each sector and each Nation, ensuring that tangible, deliverable actions follow the workshops. CIEL will additionally develop a series of Open Innovation Groups to accelerate innovation in a safe, pre-competitive environment. These will provide pump-priming funding for topics identified by members of those groups. This funding will be targeted and lead to demonstrable positive change within each Nation’s aquaculture sectors.
