AIRTO (the Association of Innovation, Research & Technology Organisations) has partnered with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to extend the Global Talent Visa to all of the research and innovation organisations in our membership, boosting access the international talent needed to drive innovation and growth.
This development was announced today in a press notice by the Department for Science and Technology (DSIT) and Lord Vallance, Minister of State (Minister for Science, Innovation, Research and Nuclear).
The UK’s Global Talent visa provides a fast, straight forward, and flexible route for researchers and specialists to move to and collaborate with the UK. UKRI operates the endorsed funder route of the Global Talent visa.
By working together, AIRTO and UKRI are making the Global Talent visa even more accessible to international researchers and experts by increasing the number of eligible host organisations.
As Simon Andrews, Executive Director of Fraunhofer UK, explained:
“To secure long term benefits for the UK, we need to secure the best talent from around the world in a very competitive context… the Global Talent visa allows us to look around the globe for talented people who can make a great contribution to the UK.”

The Global Talent Visa helps talented individuals settle in the UK, build careers, obtain leave to remain, and establish lives here with their families.

Enabling more organisations to attract and host international talent
The expansion of the Global Talent Visa will ensure ease of access to the UK for researchers and technical experts contributing to UK research either on a temporary or permanent basis.
It also enables a wider variety of UK based research and innovation organisations to easily attract and host international talent, promoting high quality, creative, and collaborative research, innovation and skill transfer across national boundaries.
