As AIRTO member AWE mark their 75th anniversary, AWE welcomed The Rt Hon. John Healey MP, Secretary of State for Defence, to AWE Aldermaston.
Meeting with Nick Elliott, AWE’s Chief Executive Officer, the Secretary of State saw first-hand how the Government’s investment into the UK sovereign warhead programme, highlighted in the recently published Strategic Defence Review, is supporting enduring national capability in nuclear science and technology, AWE’s crucial contribution to the Continuous-at-sea-Deterrent and growth across the economy.

During his visit, the Secretary of State had the opportunity to meet many of AWE’s amazing people, including apprentices, graduates and those whose exceptional work has been recognised through national awards, hearing how their work helps deliver our mission to keep the nation safe.
