AIRTO – the Association of Innovation, Research & Technology Organisations – is pleased to confirm with immediate effect that Dr James Claverley, Head of Government Relations at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), has been appointed to the Board as a Member Director of AIRTO.

NPL is the UK’s National Metrology Institute, providing the measurement capability that underpins the UK’s prosperity and quality of life.
James is currently responsible for NPL’s relationships across Government and other key public sector partners, including the UK’s other measurement institutes and the members of the National Quality Infrastructure, having joined NPL in 2008. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Bath University (UK) and completed his PhD in Manufacturing Engineering and Process Control with the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2014. His scientific research centred on the use and development of contacting probes and optical systems for micro-co-ordinate metrology, and he participated in and led several UK and EU projects focusing on metrology for micro-manufacturing. James has a passion for equality, diversity and inclusion and was responsible for convening and initiating NPL’s staff LGBTQ+ community in 2016. Read more…
