NAMTEC is a centre of excellence for the UK metals industry and aims to increase the global competitiveness of the metals sector by delivering, knowledge and technology transfer, high level technical training and research and development. It provides a strategic overview for the sector, promotes knowledge-based advancement and technology transfer opportunities, and focuses research and development across the metals industry.

Activity is focused on four main areas:

Training: Providing a range of training services covering, workforce development, graduate development, technical training in metals and manufacturing processes and continuous professional development.

Knowledge and Technology Transfer: Knowledge and technology transfer works across a spectrum of interaction with industrial, academic and research organisations from discrete, low level inquires, to long term, high level consultancy. KT is the delivery department of NAMTEC, providing technical ability, knowledge and resources for Major Projects and Training. The department is staffed by highly qualified metallurgists, whose specialities range through various processes and metals, both ferrous and non-ferrous.

Research: R&D facilities combine cutting edge technology with a wealth of world leading knowledge, expertise and experience. NAMTEC manages a number of national and international research development programmes, supporting collaborative and single client contracts.

Project Management: Identifying funding opportunities and partners, co-cordinating funding bids and managing secure projects.
