Thatcham´s research and training activity is focused on the safe and cost-effective accident damage repair of motor vehicles. This research is partly financed by motor insurers, whilst manufacturers benefit from the performance and design advice offered in respect of repairs, crash resistance, vehicle security and prevention of whiplash injuries, the ultimate beneficiary being the motorist. Repair methodology and repair time schedules are produced for repairers, insurers, and systems house computer estimating packages. The Centre provides important input to the insurance group rating for cars.
