The Scotch Whisky Research Institute (SWRI) is the Research & Technology Organisation for the Scotch Whisky industry. SWRI’s remit is to ensure sustainability and protect Scotch Whisky as a premium global product.

SWRI scientists carry out pre-competitive research for member companies and provide technical guidance and analytical services primarily to member companies, but also to third parties. Core research, carried out in UKAS accredited laboratories, focuses on raw materials, process efficiency, maturation, flavour and product protection.

SWRI collaborates with academia and other research and technology providers to bring long-term benefit to the distilling industry.
